Japanese castles were first built in the 15th century, in Sengoku period. Their structure is also distinctive and feudal charming unlike others in Europe. These places of samurais and regional lords harbor Japanese significant histories.

There were about 5,000 Japanese castles built throughout the era of feudalism, but most of them were ruined in wars and disasters. The spots which still exist nowadays are carefully reconstructed basing on the origins.

1. Himeji Castle

This place is the most renowned and appealing castle in Japan. Himeji was constructed in 1346, at the same name mountain. In Hideyoshi Toyotomi period, this building was expanded. Then it was renovated in 1956 when the World War II ended. Himeji Castle is one of the most attractive spots in Japan.

Masumoto originated from a fortress whose name was Fukashi was built in Sengoku era. Matsuyama is known as the most beautiful and majestic castle in Japan. It is located on the Katsuyama Hill.

At this destination, travelers can do sightseeing the overwhelming of Matsuyama and Seto Island. The pristine structure of Matsuyama castle used to have 5 stages, but it was damaged by the war. Then this building was recreated in 1820, which had only 3 stairs.
